Tacoronte Unlocks Five Major Housing Developments with Nearly 200 New Homes Planned

Tacoronte has taken a significant step forward in its urban development plans after resolving five long-standing planning files that had remained stalled for years, and in some cases decades.

The move will pave the way for the construction of almost 200 new homes, alongside new public spaces, improved infrastructure and better connections between several areas of the municipality.

Nearly 200 Homes and New Public Spaces

According to Councillor for Urban Planning Tarsis Morales, the completion of these administrative procedures represents one of the most important planning advances in recent years for the municipality.

Among the projects moving forward is a development between El Durazno and Teobaldo Power streets, where work will resume on 23 homes that were left unfinished in a central area close to Santa Catalina and Hoya Machado Urban Park.

The project also includes improvements to pavements, public services, gardens and street furniture, as well as the extension of Teobaldo Power street and the completion of the road known as Los Maestros, creating new public spaces linked to the surrounding parkland.

Long-Delayed Projects Finally Move Ahead

Another major development involves the UA-51 Carril de Billete sector in Agua García, where plans for 42 homes had been blocked for more than twenty years.

The council has also approved progress on:

  • The second phase of the La Dehesa III urbanisation project.
  • The completion of pending works in the Karimar development.
  • The construction of 22 new terraced homes on La Caridad Street.

Together, these projects will deliver new housing opportunities while also creating public squares, green spaces, pedestrian areas, improved lighting, upgraded utility networks and new roads designed to improve accessibility and connectivity across different neighbourhoods.

Addressing Housing Demand

Municipal officials say the developments form part of a wider strategy to tackle historical planning delays while increasing the availability of housing in Tacoronte.

Morales described the resolutions as a major achievement, noting that many of the files had remained unresolved for years due to their complexity.

He said the projects will not only help complete unfinished urban areas but also create new residential opportunities for local families seeking housing in the municipality.

Supporting Planned Growth

The Town Hall has emphasised that the objective is to encourage orderly urban development while improving quality of life for residents.

Alongside the new homes, the developments will bring additional public infrastructure and community spaces that support long-term growth and strengthen neighbourhood services.

For Tacoronte, the unlocking of these five projects marks an important milestone in reducing historic planning backlogs while helping to meet growing housing needs across the municipality.
