La Pasión de Adeje – Good Friday 3rd April 2026 in Tenerife

If you’ve never seen La Pasión de Adeje… it’s one of those events that’s hard to explain until you’re actually there.

And if you have seen it before… you’ll know it’s not something they just repeat year after year without changing anything.

This year, they’ve made a few updates worth knowing about.

Same event… but not exactly the same

It’s happening on Good Friday, 3rd April at 12:00 midday, right along Calle Grande in Adeje.

The format stays the same… big open-air production, moving through the town, with hundreds of people involved.

Roughly 300 performers, plus all the technical team behind it.

It’s not small.

What’s changed this year

The biggest update is the Last Supper scene.

They’ve reworked it visually… new staging, different setup, more impact overall. It’s one of the central moments, so it makes sense they’ve focused on that.

Alongside that, there are a few other additions:

New choreography in key scenes
A symbolic dance in the Garden of Gethsemane
Updated costumes and props
New cast members joining the production

Nothing over the top… just enough to keep it evolving.

It’s not your typical “show”

This isn’t a sit-down performance.

It moves through different parts of Adeje… Calle Grande, Plaza de España, Plaza de la Cruz del Llano… telling the story as it goes.

From the entry into Jerusalem, through the trials, all the way to the crucifixion and final procession.

You follow it… or it passes through you, depending on where you stand.

The part that makes it work

Most of the people involved aren’t professional actors.

They’re locals.

That’s what gives it a different feel… less polished, but more real.

It’s not trying too hard… which is probably why it works.

If you’re not going in person

It’ll be broadcast live as well.

Televisión Canaria, social media, local radio… so you’ve got options if you don’t fancy the crowds.

Worth knowing before you go

Get there early.

It gets busy, especially if the weather’s good.

And don’t expect a quick in-and-out… it’s something you take your time with.

Final note

Events like this don’t really change overnight.

They evolve bit by bit… and that’s part of the appeal.

Same tradition… just slightly different each year.
