Maundy Thursday in Tenerife 2026… What’s On and Where

Maundy Thursday is always one of the bigger days of Semana Santa here. Plenty going on across the island, so if you’re planning to head out, this is what to expect and where.

Santa Cruz

Things get going early in San Andrés:

  • 18:15 – Procession of the Cristo Crucificado (San Andrés Apostol parish)

Then into the evening:

  • 19:15 – Procession of the Mandato (Our Lady of the Snows parish)
  • 20:30 – Procession of Our Father Jesus Captive and Our Lady of Hope Macarena (La Concepción)

This last one is usually one of the standout moments in the capital.

La Laguna

La Laguna will be busy, as always.

  • 17:30 – Last Supper celebration (Cathedral), followed by the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament
  • 19:00 – Procession of the Holy Supper (historic centre)

Other processions happening across the town throughout the afternoon and evening:

  • Cristo Crucificado
  • Calvary
  • Humility and Patience

You’ve also got a food donation drive in Plaza de la Concepción earlier in the day, organised by local brotherhoods.

North Tenerife

A lot going on up north, spread across different towns:

Tacoronte

  • 19:00 – Last Supper, followed by procession to El Calvario

La Orotava

  • 17:00 – Procession of the Mandato (La Concepción)
  • 22:00 – Night procession of Cristo atado a la Columna (San Juan Bautista)

Puerto de la Cruz

  • 20:00 – Procession of the Nazareno (Peña de Francia)

Los Realejos

  • Multiple events throughout the day including:
    • Ecce Homo
    • Lord Bound to the Column
    • Crucified

Other towns involved:

  • El Sauzal
  • La Victoria de Acentejo
  • Santa Úrsula
  • Garachico
  • Los Silos

All running their own evening processions tied to the Last Supper and related scenes.

South Tenerife

The south keeps it going as well:

Santiago del Teide, Adeje, Arona

  • Last Supper celebrations followed by:
    • Mandato processions
    • Encuentro processions

Güímar (one of the busiest schedules):

  • Transfer of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Procession and meeting of images in San Pedro square
  • Additional events near the cemetery and Calvario

It’s one of those days where you’re never too far from something happening, wherever you are on the island.

If you’re going out, pick a spot early… it fills up quickly.
