Christmas Lights Will Reach More Than 600 Locations Across Santa Cruz This Year

Santa Cruz de Tenerife has already begun installing its Christmas lighting, with work taking place across the city’s five districts months before the festive season begins

Christmas might still feel a long way off, but in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the preparations are already well underway.

The city council began installing this year’s Christmas lighting around three weeks ago, with work being carried out progressively across the municipality so that the infrastructure is ready well before the festive season arrives.

More than 600 locations will receive Christmas lighting this year, covering both the city centre and the five municipal districts.

📅 Date: Christmas 2026
📍 Area: Santa Cruz de Tenerife
✨ Locations: More than 600 across the municipality

Work is already underway

The installation is being carried out simultaneously in different parts of the city, allowing the teams to make progress while keeping disruption to normal city life to a minimum.

One of the areas already completed is the central avenue of Los Majuelos, where Christmas garlands have been installed in the trees along the central promenade.

Work has now moved into central Santa Cruz, where crews will continue installing lights on trees and other elements.

New areas will get Christmas lighting

There are several additions to this year’s display.

New lighting will be installed in the trees along Avenida de Los Majuelos, as well as at Rambla Bentacayse in Añaza, Avenida Pedro Schwartz and Rambla García Escámez.

The additions will extend the Christmas atmosphere beyond the traditional city centre and into more neighbourhoods across Santa Cruz.

And with more than 600 locations involved, there should be plenty of festive lights to go around.

More work planned across the districts

The council expects installation of the various decorative elements in the Suroeste and Ofra-Costa Sur districts to begin before 15 August.

At the same time, work in the city centre will continue during the night to allow installation to progress while keeping daytime disruption to a minimum.

The early start is designed to give the city plenty of time to complete the work before Christmas, rather than leaving everything until the last minute.

For residents, it also means Santa Cruz will gradually start looking a little more festive well before December arrives.
