Arona Trail 2026: 10km Race Through the Hills on 11 October

Arona will host its first dedicated trail running event this autumn, taking runners through the rural landscapes between Valle San Lorenzo and Arona town centre.

Trail running is coming to Arona for the first time with the I Arona Trail 2026 – Memorial Óscar Hernández, a 10-kilometre mountain race taking place on Sunday, 11 October.

The new event forms part of the municipality’s sporting programme and is designed to combine competitive running with some of the lesser-known rural landscapes of Arona’s medianías.

📅 Date: Sunday, 11 October 2026
📍 Area: Valle San Lorenzo to Arona Casco, Arona
🕙 Start: 10:00
🏃 Distance: 10 kilometres
🏁 Finish: Plaza del Cristo de la Salud, Arona Casco

From Valle San Lorenzo to Arona

The race will start at 10.00am in Valle San Lorenzo, before following a route through the medianías of the municipality towards Arona Casco.

The finish will be at Plaza del Cristo de la Salud, giving runners a route that combines the challenge of trail running with views of the rural side of the municipality.

The event is being organised by the Arona Municipal Sports Board, led by Sports Councillor Luis Sierra.

A new addition to Arona’s sporting calendar

The council says the new race is part of its ongoing effort to broaden the range of sporting activities available in the municipality.

Rather than keeping the event confined to conventional sporting facilities, the Arona Trail puts the surrounding landscape firmly at the centre of the race.

It also gives participants the opportunity to discover parts of the municipality that are easy to overlook when most people think of Arona and its better-known coastal resorts.

Registration is now open

Registration will remain open until Wednesday, 7 October, unless all available places are filled before then.

Anyone wishing to take part can register through the official registration link:

For runners who fancy doing something a little different in October, this could be a good excuse to swap the treadmill for the hills.
