Underwater Film Festival Returns to Tenerife… Free Screenings Across the Island

Something a bit different next week… and actually worth a look.

The CIMASUB underwater film festival is back in Tenerife from 14th to 17th April, with free screenings across four communities.

It’s not just about nice ocean footage either… there’s a clear message behind it.

What It’s About

CIMASUB is one of the oldest underwater film festivals in the world, and it’s focused on one thing:

Getting people to understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

Pollution, overfishing, damage to ecosystems… all the usual issues, just shown in a way that actually hits home.

Where It’s Happening

Each day, a different location:

  • 📍 14th April – Teatro Leal (La Laguna)
  • 📍 15th April – Casino de San Miguel
  • 📍 16th April – Auditorio Infanta Leonor (Arona)
  • 📍 17th April – La Casona (Santa Úrsula)

🕖 All evening sessions start at 19:00 and are free to attend.

Not Just for Adults

They’re also running morning sessions for school kids, aimed at getting younger people thinking about ocean conservation early on.

Makes sense… easier to build awareness early than fix habits later.

Worth Going?

If you like documentaries or anything nature-related, it’s an easy yes.

Even if you don’t… it’s a different kind of evening plan, and you might actually learn something without it feeling like a lecture.

Simple idea… but done well.
