The Cabildo de Tenerife is putting more money into student support again next year, with a new scholarship programme worth up to €14 million for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The funding is expected to help more than 6,000 students across the island continue their studies.
Which, given the price of rent, transport and university life these days, will probably come as a relief to quite a few families.
What the Scholarships Cover
The new grants will support several types of students, including:
📚 University degree, master’s and doctoral students
✈️ Erasmus mobility programmes
🚌 Transport assistance
🎨 Artistic studies
🔧 Vocational Training (FP)
♿ Students with special educational needs
One of the biggest changes this year is the expansion of support for students with additional educational needs, with the Cabildo tripling the budget for this category compared to previous years.
Where the Funding Is Going
According to the Cabildo:
- Up to €8 million will go towards university scholarships
- Up to €3 million is reserved for students with special educational needs
- Around €500,000 will support artistic studies
- Another €500,000 is allocated to Vocational Training programmes
The aim is to reduce financial barriers and improve equal access to education across Tenerife.
Applications Open Until October
Applications will officially open once the full details are published in the Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The Cabildo has already confirmed that students will have until 30 October 2026 to apply.
Growing Support for Students in Tenerife
Cabildo president Rosa Dávila said the programme forms part of the island’s wider commitment to supporting young people and helping families cope with education costs.
During the current political term, the Cabildo expects its scholarship programmes to reach almost 30,000 families across Tenerife.
Last year’s scholarship budget stood at €13 million.
This year, they’ve pushed it even higher.
