Folk Fest’s Final Night in Los Cristianos…Don’t Miss This One

Folk Fest wraps up…properly

The Arona Folk Fest is finishing this Thursday, and to be fair, they’re not just quietly shutting it down.

They’re doing it properly.

It’s the closing event of the 15th edition, and it’s all happening in the Plaza de La Pescadora, right by the beach…which, if nothing else, is a decent place to spend an afternoon.

Starts early…easy to drift into

Things kick off from 4pm with a local craft and produce market.

Nothing overcomplicated…just proper local artisans, people still doing things the traditional way, which is getting rarer by the year.

You can wander through, have a look, maybe pick something up…or just pretend you understand how it’s made.

Music, groups, and a bit of movement

From 6pm, you’ve got live music starting with Rumba Family.

Then at 7pm, it shifts up a gear with groups moving through the streets…Verodal, the Arona Folk School, Amigos de Punta Rasca, and Carey.

It’s one of those things where the whole area ends up feeling involved, not just people stood in front of a stage.

Music, dancing, people drifting about…you get the idea.

Evening finish on stage

From 8:30pm, it settles back into the square with Herederos de Chasna and I’Gara closing things off.

By that point it’s usually a decent atmosphere…bit of food, a drink in hand, and no one in a rush to go anywhere.

People love saying Tenerife has no culture.

Usually while doing absolutely nothing to look for it.

Events like this have been running for years, quietly doing their thing…bringing a bit of local identity back into places that can sometimes feel a bit too focused on tourists.

You just have to show up.
