Mountain biking lands in Candelaria this Sunday 29th March… and it’s all about the kids

Mountain biking in Candelaria this weekend… and it’s actually one of the better local events to get involved in.

Not because it’s some elite, high-pressure race… quite the opposite.

A proper family event

They’re running it as part of the Cabildo Games on Sunday morning at Punta Larga, kicking off at 10:30.

It’s aimed at kids of all ages, from complete beginners through to juniors. No egos, no serious competition… just getting them outdoors, riding, and enjoying it.

Which, if you’ve spent any time around organised kids’ sport, is quite refreshing.

Worth turning up?

Honestly… yes.

These kinds of events are where Tenerife does things right. Good weather, relaxed atmosphere, and a focus on participation rather than turning everything into a mini Olympics.

If your kids ride a bike, they’ll enjoy it.

If they don’t… they’ll probably still enjoy it once they see everyone else getting stuck in.

The practical bits

Registrations are open now and close Thursday night at 11pm, so don’t leave it until the last minute… it’s Spain, but deadlines do occasionally exist.

It’s being organised by the Cabildo’s sports department along with a local cycling club and the town hall, so it’s all fairly well put together.

Final thought

If you need convincing, go and look at photos from previous years. It’s not overly polished, not Instagram-perfect… just kids having a good time on bikes.

Which is sort of the point.

If you’re around on Sunday morning, it’s an easy win. Get out, get some fresh air, let the kids burn off some energy.

Better than sitting inside with YouTube… for once.
