La Laguna Brings a Taste of Andalusia… With a Canarian Twist

La Laguna is bringing back its version of the Feria de Abril… and it’s not trying to copy Seville.

It’s doing its own thing.

A mix of Andalusian tradition and Canarian flavour, which, to be fair, works better than you’d expect.

Back at Las Mantecas

The fourth edition lands this weekend at the Parque Tecnológico de Las Mantecas, kicking off on Friday 17 April.

Last year pulled in over 7,000 people, so this one’s expected to be even busier.

Not surprising really… it’s one of those events people actually enjoy turning up to.

What You Can Expect

This isn’t just a few stalls and some music in the background.

Across the weekend, you’ll find:

  • Live music and flamenco performances
  • Sevillanas dancing (and plenty joining in)
  • Workshops for rumba, flamenco and castanets
  • Food and drink stands
  • Fashion shows and competitions
  • Even equestrian displays

So yes… it’s a full setup.

Friday Sets the Tone

Things start at 18:00 with the first dances.

By 20:00, the official opening kicks in with performances from local artists and dance schools.

Then at 21:00, you get the classic lighting of the feria… which is always a bit of a moment.

More Than Just a Theme

What’s interesting this year is the focus on the connection between Canarias and Andalucía.

Not just visually, but through:

  • Music
  • Instruments
  • Dance
  • Even storytelling

It’s less “imported event” and more of a blend between the two cultures.

Which probably explains why it’s stuck around.

Easy Plan for the Weekend

  • Free entry
  • Plenty to see and do
  • Good excuse to get out for a few hours

Even if you’re not into flamenco… you’ll likely end up staying longer than planned.

It tends to happen.
