The Tenerife Exhibition Centre (Recinto Ferial) will host the Canary Islands’ first Integrative Oncology Fair this September, bringing together healthcare professionals, patient organisations and support groups for three days dedicated to cancer awareness, prevention and wellbeing.
Called Renacer Tenerife, the free event will take place from 25 to 27 September and is designed to support people living with cancer, survivors, their families and carers.
Free Talks, Workshops and Expert Advice
Visitors will have access to a wide range of activities aimed at helping people better understand cancer and the support available beyond medical treatment.
The programme will include:
- Expert talks
- Practical workshops
- Health education sessions
- Wellbeing activities
- Advice for patients and carers
- Cancer prevention initiatives
The organisers hope the event will provide reliable information while helping to reduce some of the uncertainty that often comes with a cancer diagnosis.
Hospitals and Patient Organisations Unite
A wide range of healthcare organisations and charities will be taking part, including specialists from:
- Hospital Universitario de Canarias (HUC)
- Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria (HUNSC)
- Hospital San Juan de Dios
- Hospitales Universitarios San Roque
The event is also supported by organisations such as the Canary Islands Cancer Research Institute (ICIC), Carrera por la Vida Foundation, ÁMATE, Pequeño Valiente, the Alejandro Da Silva Foundation and several other patient support groups.
Prevention Takes Centre Stage
Alongside the educational programme, visitors will also be able to take part in a blood donation campaign organised by the Canary Islands Institute of Blood Donation and Haemotherapy.
The Cabildo de Tenerife will also promote awareness of the risks associated with excessive sun exposure, encouraging people to take simple steps to reduce their risk of skin cancer.
Support Beyond the Hospital
The organisers say Renacer Tenerife was created to offer support that complements medical treatment by focusing on emotional wellbeing, education and practical advice.
The fair’s director, Yaiza Díaz, explained that the idea grew from her own personal experience and aims to make trusted information and support services more accessible for patients and their families.
Responding to a Growing Need
The launch of the fair comes at a time when cancer diagnoses continue to rise.
According to figures released by the organisers, Spain is expected to record almost 302,000 new cancer cases in 2026, while around 12,000 people are diagnosed each year in the Canary Islands.
By bringing healthcare professionals, charities and support organisations together under one roof, Renacer Tenerife hopes to become an important annual event for education, prevention and support across the islands.
