Tenerife-born actor Karlos Klaumannsmoller continues to build an impressive international career after joining the cast of In the Grey, the latest action film directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Guy Ritchie.
The actor, comedian and producer has steadily established himself in major international productions, adding the Hollywood release to a growing portfolio that includes Netflix series, European television and acclaimed stage performances.
From Tenerife to Hollywood
Originally trained at the Canary Islands Actors School (Escuela de Actores de Canarias), Klaumannsmoller has worked his way from local theatre productions to international film and television.
His latest project, In the Grey, premiered in the United States in June and is scheduled for release in Spanish cinemas later this year. The film sees him appearing alongside an international cast in one of Guy Ritchie’s latest productions.
The Hollywood role follows several high-profile projects, including the Netflix disaster drama La Palma, filmed partly in the Canary Islands, the historical drama El comandante Fritz, and the British-Irish miniseries Those Sacred Vows, produced for Irish broadcaster RTÉ and Banijay Rights.
Sharing the Screen with International Stars
Throughout his career, Klaumannsmoller has worked alongside some of the industry’s biggest names.
His credits include Jean-Claude Van Damme in We Die Young, John Krasinski in the fourth season of Jack Ryan, and Spanish productions such as Poliamor para principiantes, directed by Fernando Colomo, and Reyes contra Santa, where he reunited with acclaimed actor Karra Elejalde.
His international experience has also been strengthened by living and working in the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany, giving him the language skills and cultural background to work across international productions.
Success on Stage Across Europe
Alongside his screen career, Klaumannsmoller has also enjoyed notable success in European theatre and opera.
In 2023, he played El Duende in the operetta María de Buenos Aires at the prestigious Immling Festival in Munich. His performance led to an invitation from the Georgian Ministry of Culture to reprise the role in a new production in Tbilisi in 2025, where he was the only Spanish performer in the cast.
Championing Canary Islands Talent
Away from acting, Klaumannsmoller is also the founder of La Regadera Producciones Teatrales, a production company established in 2010 that has helped launch the careers of several well-known Spanish actors and comedians.
Reflecting on his career, he said it is “an immense source of pride” to represent the Canary Islands in major international productions.
At the same time, he hopes to see greater representation of the Canary Islands’ accent in Spanish film and television.
“For me, it will always be an honour to work using my natural Canarian accent,” he said. “I still think there’s some resistance within the Spanish industry to hearing the way we speak in mainstream productions, but it’s something we have to keep working to change.”
As his international career continues to grow, Klaumannsmoller says he would also welcome future opportunities to work with filmmakers and theatre creators from his home island.
