If you’re in Tenerife at the end of July, Tamaimo will once again be celebrating its annual Fiestas in Honour of Santa Ana, with nine days packed full of live music, comedy, traditional events, religious celebrations and family entertainment.
Running from 25 July to 2 August, this year’s programme features two big headline acts, with Rosario Flores and comedian J.J. Vaquero leading a busy schedule designed to appeal to all ages.
Rosario Flores Takes Centre Stage
The biggest musical event of the festival takes place on Sunday 26 July, when Spanish singer Rosario Flores performs at 9.30pm during the Santa Ana Gala.
Hosted by Alicia León, the evening will also feature performances from Fran Chafino’s dance company, making it one of the highlights of this year’s celebrations.
A Night of Comedy with J.J. Vaquero
Comedy fans won’t have to wait long.
On Thursday 30 July, popular comedian J.J. Vaquero brings his stand-up show to Tamaimo as part of the festival’s Night of Humour.
He’ll be joined by Imprudentes Teatro, promising an evening packed with laughs.
A Festival Rooted in Tradition
While the headline acts will attract plenty of visitors, the Santa Ana celebrations remain firmly rooted in local traditions.
The festivities begin on Saturday 25 July with the traditional ringing of church bells and a lively street parade led by the Tamatimba Batucada and the 101 Brass Band.
That evening, a special Mass dedicated to Santa Ana will be followed by a religious procession through the town alongside the Municipal Band of Santiago del Teide, ending with a fireworks display.
On Sunday 26 July, the patron saint’s main feast day will include a Pontifical Mass led by Bishop Eloy Santiago, followed by another procession and musical performances honouring Santa Ana.
Celebrating Canarian Culture
Traditional Canarian culture also plays a major role throughout the week.
The Day of Traditions takes place on Monday 27 July, featuring performances by local theatre groups.
On Wednesday 29 July, a lively Tarde de Taifas will showcase several folklore groups, while Saturday 1 August brings a large gathering of traditional parrandas, with musicians performing throughout the day.
Music Until Late
The evenings don’t end when the concerts finish.
Several open-air dances are scheduled throughout the festival, including performances from orchestras, DJs and Latin music artists.
The Verbena on 25 July features Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto, Orquesta Sabrosa, Gauracha and Arodi Llanos.
Another dance night follows on 31 July, with performances from Henry Méndez, Maquinaria Band, Maraury Band and Yet Garbey.
On 1 August, the festival hosts a Latin music party featuring Orquesta Sabrosa, DJ Chris Hernández, Ledes Díaz and Latin Sound.
Entertainment for the Whole Family
Children haven’t been forgotten either.
The programme includes family shows, entertainment, inflatable castles and a foam party, while local sporting competitions include dominoes, table games, five-a-side football and the Tamaimo Swimming Crossing on the final day of the festival.
Nine Days of Celebration
From religious processions and Canarian folklore to headline concerts, comedy and late-night dancing, the Santa Ana Festival in Tamaimo remains one of the biggest traditional celebrations in Santiago del Teide.
Whether you’re there for Rosario Flores, J.J. Vaquero or simply to experience an authentic Canarian fiesta, there will be something happening almost every day from 25 July to 2 August.
