Around 3,000 people turned out for the “Freestyle Zombies” show featuring some of the biggest names in freestyle motocross
The main festivities in La Esperanza, held in honour of Our Lady of Hope, came to a spectacular end with a full day dedicated to motorsport, freestyle and family entertainment.
Around 3,000 people gathered at the Maximino Bacallado football pitch for the headline “Freestyle Zombies” show, which brought together leading national and international riders for an evening of huge jumps, backflips and plenty of noise.
A day for families and motor fans
The programme began during the day with activities aimed at all ages, including displays of Honda motorcycles, Lego vehicles, a food area and live music from Macacos and Alyra García.
One of the more unusual additions was Mototherapy, which proved popular with both children and adults while also supporting the Alejandro da Silva Foundation against leukaemia.
So there was a bit of everything. Motors, food, music and a good cause.
Among those attending were El Rosario mayor Escolástico Gil and Manuel Gómez, CEO of Ideco, who visited the different activities throughout the day.
World champions take to the air
The big attraction arrived after dark with a spectacular display of freestyle motocross and BMX.
The motocross line-up included five-time world champion Maikel Melero, as well as veteran rider Edgar Torronteras. They were joined by Albert “Rocky” Florensa, Italian rider Leonardo Fini and Swiss competitor Vivian Gantner.
The BMX riders also put on a show despite some light rain, with Colombian Daniel Santiago, David Strouhal, Dan Miller and Arnau Farré among those taking part.
Farré arrives with some serious credentials too, having finished third in the 2025 Trial 2 World Championship.
Backflips, 360s and flairs turned the football pitch into something that looked considerably more exciting than its usual Saturday afternoon.
A fitting finale for La Esperanza
The combination of motorsport, live entertainment, food and family activities brought the 2026 celebrations to a lively conclusion.
The “Freestyle Zombies” event was organised by Social Events Canarias, with support from El Rosario Council, the Tenerife Cabildo, the Government of the Canary Islands, Expodeca 2026, Honda, Ybarra and Lleides.
For one evening at least, the Maximino Bacallado pitch became one of the main freestyle and motorsport stages in Tenerife.
