Some pizzerias try to impress you with a menu the size of a telephone directory. Gradi Pizzería Napolitana in Los Cristianos takes a different approach, focusing on a smaller selection of Italian dishes and pizzas that are hard to miss.
Local content creator @elsiciliano_tenerife recently visited and came away impressed, describing the pizzas as some of the most original he’d seen. Their size certainly grabs your attention, but it’s the presentation and preparation that help make them stand out.
Pizza is the main attraction, naturally, but there are a few things worth trying before you get to the main event.
The Gradi Rings are a good place to start, served with garlic butter, spicy honey and Parmesan. The version with mozzarella gets a particular thumbs-up, apparently taking the whole thing to another level.
Then there are the panuozzi, an Italian sandwich made with buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, Serrano ham and rocket. A simple combination, but one that lets the ingredients do the talking.
That’s part of the appeal here. The menu is deliberately focused, rather than throwing every possible topping and Italian dish at you and hoping something sticks.
The atmosphere helps, too, with Italian music from the 1980s and 1990s playing in the background. A bit of nostalgia, a decent pizza and no need to spend twenty minutes deciding what to order. Sounds reasonable to me.
Gradi Pizzería Napolitana is at Paseo Madrid, 7, in Los Cristianos. It has a Google rating of 4.8 stars and is open daily from 1pm to 11pm, serving lunch and dinner.
If you’re in Los Cristianos and fancy a pizza that makes an impression before you’ve even taken a bite, Gradi looks well worth a visit.
