Arona Expands Home Care Support for the Elderly

Arona is putting more focus on something that quietly affects a lot of people… caring for older residents who need support.

The council has approved its 2026 social plan, which covers 36 different projects aimed at helping vulnerable groups across the municipality.

That’s everything from disability support to homelessness… but the main shift here is towards elderly care.

More Support Where It’s Needed

Two new projects are being added specifically for people with dementia and cognitive issues.

The aim is fairly straightforward… help people stay independent for as long as possible, while improving their day-to-day quality of life.

Which sounds obvious… but isn’t always easy to get right.

Help at Home

There’s also a new home care service being introduced called ARCA.

This is more hands-on support. Things like:

  • Meal preparation
  • Help with shopping
  • Managing medication
  • Basic companionship

Nothing revolutionary… but for many families, this is exactly the kind of help that makes a difference.

It’s also being paired with the existing “Roseta” project, which focuses on tackling loneliness… something that doesn’t get talked about enough, especially with older people living on their own.

The Bigger Picture

What they’re trying to do here is move away from reactive care… and towards something more preventative and community-based.

Catch problems earlier. Keep people connected. Help them stay in their own homes longer.

That’s the idea anyway.

If It Works…

Plans like this always sound good when they’re announced.

The real test is whether the support actually reaches people in a consistent way… and doesn’t get lost in admin or delays.

But if it’s delivered properly, it’s the sort of thing that makes everyday life a bit easier for a lot of families.

Worth Knowing

This isn’t just a small update… it’s part of a wider push to strengthen social care across Arona.

So if you live in the area, or have family who do, it’s one to keep an eye on.
