A new traditional Canarian restaurant in Tacoronte serving homemade favourites

There’s a new bodegón in Tacoronte that looks well worth a visit if you enjoy proper home-cooked Canarian food.

Bodegón Tradición Norte opened a couple of months ago and is already attracting attention for its traditional menu, with hearty dishes such as goat soup, black Canarian pork meatballs and fried rabbit.

Food creators @guachinchesmodernos recently visited and shared their experience with followers. Their verdict was that the place serves the sort of homemade food you’d expect from a good traditional kitchen.

A menu full of homemade cooking

They started with octopus and sweet potato salad, a dish that was off the menu on the day of their visit. The portion was generous, by all accounts.

Next came the goat soup, a traditional spoon dish with plenty of flavour and an egg included.

They also tried rib escaldón with beans, followed by cuttlefish in sauce, which was recommended by the staff and served with Canarian wrinkled potatoes.

The latter certainly sounded tempting. As the visitors pointed out, you couldn’t smell it through the video, but it apparently smelt very good.

Black pork meatballs and fried rabbit

One of the standout dishes was the black Canarian pork meatballs in sauce. Joana was particularly impressed, describing it as her favourite dish of the meal.

Fried rabbit was another choice, served with chips. The food creators commented on the generous portion and the fact that the oil used to fry the rabbit was also served alongside it for anyone who wanted to add a little more flavour to their plate.

They finished with homemade desserts, including bienmesabe and timba, two familiar favourites from Canarian sweet-making.
