Tenerife Phe Festival Puts Local Talent Centre Stage This September

The Tenerife Phe Festival is back in Puerto de la Cruz on 4 and 5 September, and this year’s line-up is giving plenty of space to artists from the Canary Islands.

That’s something I like to see.

Big international names are all well and good, but there is no shortage of musical talent across Tenerife and the other islands. Sometimes it just needs a decent stage and an audience willing to turn up.

The festival’s 11th edition will feature artists from Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote alongside national and international acts.

Choclock and Pequeña Alaska flying the flag for Tenerife

One of the Tenerife artists appearing at this year’s festival is Choclock, the stage name of Sergio Bruno Miguel Delgado.

His music moves between R&B, rap and electronic sounds, with influences including Frank Ocean and Bon Iver. He’ll take to the stage on 5 September with his latest material.

Also performing that day are Pequeña Alaska, the indie pop-rock band from Puerto de la Cruz.

Made up of Javier Goiricelaya, Jorge Martin, Saúl Pestana and Cristian Fernández, the band will be bringing songs from their debut album, Teoría Universal, released in 2026.

For a festival taking place in Puerto de la Cruz, having a local band on the bill makes perfect sense.

Artists from across the Canary Islands

Gran Canaria’s Xerach Peñate will perform on 4 September, bringing her mix of pop, techno and tambora rhythms. Her latest album, Canciones Bobas, follows a career that has also included collaborations with Christina Rosenvinge and production work for artists including Nena Daconte.

Belice, also from Gran Canaria, will perform songs from their debut album, Todas las flores, while Lanzarote’s Good Franco take to the stage on 5 September.

The Famara-based group blend indie, funk, electronic music and rock, and recently won Pasaporte Sonora 2026.

There will also be a performance from VVV [Trippin’ You], a trio with roots in La Palma and a sound that mixes electronic music with a variety of other influences.

More than just guitars and indie bands

The Phe Club will once again bring electronic music into the mix, with artists from the islands including Isla Sonido, Just Beca & Candela, Mostany, El Chico & Jesse La Ley and Bobby Bob.

Both festival days will also begin with the Sun Dance Family Session, combining music, dance and activities aimed at families.

Meanwhile, the wider line-up includes Fat Dog, Ibibio Sound Machine, Bodega, Natalia Doco, Carlos Ares, Rufus T. Firefly and Getdown Services.

So, plenty to choose from.

The good thing about Phe Festival is that it isn’t simply bringing in artists from elsewhere and hoping everyone buys a ticket. This year, more than ever, it seems to be making a proper effort to showcase the musicians creating interesting stuff right here in the Canary Islands.

And frankly, with the amount of talent around, it’s about time.
