The El Coromoto neighbourhood in La Laguna has announced the programme for its 2026 festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora Virgen de Coromoto, with celebrations taking place from 26 August to 1 September.
This year’s programme introduces a more community-focused format, combining live music, traditional events, family entertainment and religious celebrations while encouraging neighbourhood participation.
A Week of Celebrations
The festivities begin on Wednesday, 26 August, with the official opening speech (pregón), followed by a performance from Grupo Alondra, the traditional opening parade (cabalgata anunciadora) and a Latin pop concert by Ledes Díaz.
On Thursday, the spotlight turns to Canarian culture with the Night of Traditions, featuring performances by the folk group Cuevas del Lino and the show “El Emigrante” by Grupo Ixemad.
Music, Humour and Family Fun
Friday, 28 August, is dedicated to all generations, with family activities, a comedy performance by Omayra Cazorla and a tribute concert celebrating the music of Hombres G.
On Saturday, the programme includes a children’s festival, a community paella, and an afternoon dance featuring Orquesta Dinacord, Orquesta Columbia and The Boys Machine.
Religious Celebrations
The main religious celebrations take place on Sunday, beginning with the 17th Food Collection and Offering, accompanied by local folk groups.
Later, Holy Mass will be celebrated by Father Víctor Manuel Oliva García, followed by the traditional procession of Nuestra Señora Virgen de Coromoto through the neighbourhood streets.
The procession will conclude with a fireworks display and the traditional performance of Ave María, sung by local resident Javier Hernández.
Closing the Festivities
The celebrations will end on 1 September with a special Mass dedicated to the deceased residents of the neighbourhood, held on Calle Virgen de Coromoto.
Organisers and La Laguna Town Hall have thanked residents, local organisations and businesses for their continued support in making the festivities one of the most important annual community celebrations in the Camino de Valladares area.
