More than 3,000 people gathered in El Médano this weekend as the south of Tenerife crowned its new Miss Sur 2026.
The open-air event, held in the town’s central square as part of Granadilla de Abona’s Sansofé Summer Programme, saw Alba Edmonds, representing the SAMIC Tourism Cluster of San Miguel de Abona, take the title in front of a large audience.
A Winner with Her Sights Set on Teaching
Alba Edmonds is currently studying Social Sciences at sixth form and hopes to pursue a career in Early Years Education.
She impressed the judges during the fourteenth edition of the competition, which was once again directed by Sandro Pérgola.
Joining her on the winners’ podium were Enoah Dávila, representing Adeje, and Karla Balbes, representing Spawellplus, who completed the court of honour.
More Than a Beauty Contest
The event has increasingly become a showcase for southern Tenerife rather than simply a pageant.
Throughout the evening, promotional videos highlighting the landscapes, attractions and heritage of the region were shown to the audience, while tourist information about Granadilla de Abona was distributed to visitors.
The gala was supported by the councils of Granadilla de Abona, Guía de Isora, Adeje, Arona, San Miguel de Abona, Arico, Arafo and Güímar, together with a number of local businesses.
Entertainment was provided by singers Robin and Yuri V, along with the band MalditoNombre.
Granadilla to Host Again in 2027
Following another successful edition, organisers have confirmed that Granadilla de Abona will once again host Miss Sur in 2027.
The agreement was formalised between competition director Sandro Pérgola and José Domingo Regalado, Mayor of Granadilla de Abona.
Looking ahead, organisers also revealed that Miss Norte will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, with the event taking place in Los Realejos.
Since its launch in 2012, the Miss Sur competition has toured several municipalities across Tenerife, combining the event itself with the promotion of the island’s cultural, historical and natural heritage.
