What do you do after a breakup? Move on, book a holiday, perhaps spend a few weeks avoiding certain songs?
For the woman at the centre of Ser Pastora, the answer is rather different. She buys a flock of sheep and decides to start a new life as a shepherdess.
Part of the Danza en Breve programme, Laura Morales’ performance explores care, love, loss and the need to keep moving forward through dance, voice and live sound.
A Story About Love, Movement and Starting Again
Ser Pastora follows a woman whose unexpected decision becomes a poetic journey through the landscape of shepherding and the history of female pastoral figures.
Using movement, spoken word and a soundscape created live during the performance, the production explores how the body changes, adapts and learns to care.
The story travels across centuries of shepherdess traditions before arriving at the woman of today.
At its heart is an idea that feels surprisingly relatable: sometimes love and movement come from the same need.
