A small tavern in the heart of La Laguna is earning a reputation for combining creative dishes with friendly, attentive service. Taberna Ossuna, which entered a new chapter following a change of management nearly two years ago, has become a favourite among locals and visitors looking for something a little different.
Tenerife food creators @guachinchesmodernos recently paid the restaurant a visit and were quick to recommend it to their followers.
“It changed management nearly two years ago, and we still hadn’t had the chance to try it,” they said.
A Menu Full of Standout Dishes
The meal began with a beef steak tartare served with toasted bread, a detail the reviewers appreciated, noting that not every restaurant includes it as part of the dish.
They also sampled the eggs with baby eels and prawns, describing the combination of flavours as one of their favourites.
“We absolutely love this dish,” Joana commented during the review.
One of the biggest surprises, however, was the restaurant’s avocado omelette with caramelised onion, priced at €14. Diners can choose how runny or firm they would like the omelette, making it one of the menu’s most distinctive offerings.
Popular Main Courses
For the main course, the pair chose the gratinated cod, which staff told them is one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes. They particularly praised the crunchy nuts served over the sauce.
“It’s absolutely delicious,” they said.
They also tried the braised pork cheeks, another dish that exceeded expectations.
“I wasn’t expecting them to be this good,” Jonay admitted.
Homemade Desserts and Friendly Service
To finish, they enjoyed two homemade desserts: the classic tarta de la abuela and traditional huevos mole, one of the Canary Islands’ best-known sweet treats.
Beyond the food, the reviewers highlighted the warm, welcoming service, describing the atmosphere as friendly and relaxed.
The restaurant also benefits from a terrace and a central location close to several public car parks, making it an easy choice for both residents and visitors exploring La Laguna.
