Artificial intelligence, climate science, social media, entrepreneurship, comedy, chess, hacking and first aid…
Not exactly the sort of combination you normally expect inside a museum courtyard in Tenerife.
But that was pretty much the atmosphere at Tecnológica 2026 in Santa Cruz.
Technology, Creativity and Big Ideas at MUNA
After being postponed due to Storm Therese, the event finally opened at:
📍 MUNA — Museum of Nature and Archaeology
📍 Santa Cruz de Tenerife
As part of the wider:
💻 Tecnológica 2026 programme
And judging by the turnout, people were more than ready for it.
Tickets reportedly sold out a week beforehand, with visitors filling the Antonio Pintor courtyard long before the talks even began.
More Than Just Technology
What stood out most was that the event wasn’t purely about screens, coding or artificial intelligence.
It focused just as much on:
🌍 Climate communication
📱 Social media culture
🧠 Digital ethics
🎭 Creativity and storytelling
🚑 Safety and first aid
🍔 Brand building and entrepreneurship
Basically how technology now touches almost every part of daily life whether people like it or not.
From Climate Science to Social Media Reality
Meteorologist Mercedes Martín spoke about the importance of understanding climate history to properly understand the future.
Meanwhile science communicator Rocío Vidal, known online as The Schrödinger Cat, focused on the growing challenge of explaining complex subjects clearly in a world dominated by fast content and misinformation.
Which honestly feels increasingly impossible online some days.
Business, Brands and Digital Attention
The event also explored how technology shapes modern business and entertainment.
Speakers included:
🍔 Aleix Puig — founder of VICIO and winner of MasterChef 2019
🎬 Jordi Moltó — writer linked to El Hormiguero
Discussing how brands and creators now fight for attention in an environment where everyone is permanently distracted by something else on their phone.
Fair point really.
Technology Meets Everyday Life
As the afternoon continued, the focus shifted toward practical everyday uses of technology.
Topics included:
⚡ Science communication
🚑 Emergency response and first aid
🛡 Digital safety
🤖 Ethical technology development
With speakers repeatedly highlighting the need for technology to remain human, accessible and useful rather than simply impressive.
A fairly refreshing message considering half the internet currently sounds like robots selling courses to other robots.
Humour, Social Media and Reality Checks
There was also space for humour and content creators including:
🎭 Soraya Nárez
📱 Caterina Moretti
Who closed the day with discussions around social media pressure, identity and authenticity online.
Moretti encouraged attendees to:
💬 “Be yourselves and don’t believe everything you see on social media.”
Which may be the most sensible advice delivered anywhere on the internet this year.
Tecnológica Continues Across the Weekend
The wider Tecnológica programme continues throughout the weekend across:
📍 MUNA
📍 TEA — Tenerife Espacio de las Artes
With activities including:
🎮 Gaming tournaments
♟ Chess events with international masters
🧑💻 TecnoHack innovation challenge
🎤 Generation Z debate panels
🎮 TecnoPlay entertainment zone
And plenty more discussions around technology, creativity and digital culture.
Worth Knowing
After more than 15 years running, Tecnológica has become one of Tenerife’s biggest digital and innovation events.
But what makes it interesting is that it never feels entirely like a tech conference.
It feels more like a big conversation about how strange modern life has become…
Just with better lighting and slightly more WiFi.
