Tacoronte Hosts First Festival Mareas This Friday

Tacoronte is hosting the first Festival Mareas this Friday, 23 October, bringing together sport, culture, music and activities promoting equality, inclusion and sustainability.

The event is organised by Fundación ECCA Social and the Canarias Convive programme, with support from Tacoronte Town Council’s Social Services, Youth and Sports departments.

Three venues will be used throughout the day: Plaza del Cristo, the Casa de la Cultura and the municipal sports pavilion on Calle Pérez Reyes.

Activities for all ages

The festival is split into two sessions.

Morning session: 10am to 1.30pm

The morning programme is aimed mainly at primary and secondary school pupils from across Tenerife, as well as youth centres and organisations working with young people.

Activities include Deportízate IV, a cooperative and inclusive sports circuit, alongside a fair featuring more than 15 organisations with interactive stands and educational activities.

The Casa de la Cultura will also host talks and workshops covering values, equality, prevention and social awareness.

Afternoon session: 3pm to 10pm

The afternoon programme is open to everyone, including families and community organisations.

Visitors can expect demonstrations of traditional Canarian games and sports, including Juego del Palo Canario and wooden cart activities, along with recreational events, cultural displays and live music.

The day will finish with a performance by Murga Las Diabólicas at 9.30pm.

Free entry

Festival Mareas aims to encourage a more active and socially aware community, with a focus on equality, intercultural understanding and sustainability.

All activities are free, and members of the public do not need to register in advance.

Tacoronte is in the north of Tenerife, making this a useful option for anyone looking for a local cultural event this Friday.
