Santa Cruz de Tenerife is once again encouraging young people to stay active this summer with the launch of its 2026 Summer Sports Programme, offering 2,720 places across a wide variety of activities for children and teenagers throughout July and August.
Organised by the City Council’s Sports and Quality of Life Department, the programme combines traditional sports with newer activities, while also providing an inclusive campus for young people with disabilities.
Activities for all interests
This year’s programme includes a wide selection of sports designed for different age groups, including:
- Swimming lessons at the Acidalio Lorenzo Municipal Pool for children aged 4 to 13.
- Surf lessons at Roque de las Bodegas and Almáciga beaches for participants aged 9 to 17.
- The popular Las Teresitas Multi-Sports Campus, for children aged 6 to 13, which once again includes sailing in partnership with the Tenerife Island Sailing Federation.
- Skateboarding lessons at La Granja Skatepark for young people aged 6 to 17.
- Breakdance classes, introduced for the first time this year, at the Quico Cabrera Sports Hall for children and teenagers aged 5 to 17.
Activities already underway
The programme officially began on 22nd June with the opening of the Las Teresitas Multi-Sports Campus, which runs until 4th September and offers a range of sports and recreational activities by the sea.
Surf lessons in Taganana and skateboarding sessions at La Granja Skatepark are now running and will continue until 28th August, while the new breakdance workshops will be held until 31st July.
Inclusive sports campus
The summer programme also includes an Inclusive Campus at Colegio Ágora (formerly García Escámez School), designed for children and young people with disabilities.
Running from 1st to 31st July, the campus operates Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm, providing accessible sporting and recreational activities in an inclusive environment.
Registration and discounts
Registration can be completed through the santacruzentrena.es website or at the municipality’s Mobile Sports Office, which visits different neighbourhoods across Santa Cruz.
Standard public fees apply, with discounts available for large families, people with disabilities of 33% or more, and families experiencing financial hardship.
The City Council says the programme has become a well-established part of the summer calendar, helping young people stay active while providing families with affordable recreational options during the school holidays.
