Nobody particularly enjoys finding a cockroach in the kitchen or spotting rats where they shouldn’t be. Santa Cruz City Council is carrying out another round of pest control work this week to help keep urban pests under control across the capital.
The latest operations will take place in several neighbourhoods within the Salud-La Salle district, targeting issues involving rodents, cockroaches and other urban pests.
Pest Control Schedule
Teams will be working in the following areas:
- Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September: La Salud
- Wednesday 23 September: Cuesta de Piedra
- Thursday 24 September: El Perú
- Friday 25 September: Cruz del Señor
The work forms part of the council’s routine maintenance programme for public spaces, alongside additional interventions carried out following reports from residents.
How to Report Pest Problems
Residents who spot rats, cockroaches, wasps or other problematic species can report them through the council’s SC Mejora platform.
The council is also reminding people not to leave rubbish outside bins or discard food scraps in the street. Apart from making the place look untidy, it provides an open invitation for pests to move in and set up shop.
Keeping rubbish properly contained and avoiding food waste in public areas can help reduce the conditions that allow pests to breed.
