Public Money and Big Events in Tenerife… The Numbers Are Climbing

This is where things get a bit more interesting…

Because the budgets are going up. Quite a bit.

What’s Happening

Major events in Tenerife are pulling in more public funding

Mainly through sponsorships from the Cabildo via Turismo de Tenerife.

And the increases aren’t small.

A Clear Example

Take Madrid Fusión:

  • 2023: €313,100
  • 2024: €475,200
  • 2025: €499,000
  • 2026: €763,518

That’s a 143% jump in three years.

It’s Not Just One Event

Others are climbing too:

  • Cadena Dial Awards → up to €620,000
  • Cook Music Festival → from €125k to €480k
  • Quirino Awards → €420k to €612k
  • Fimucité → €150k to €250k

Some big jumps there… especially Cook Music.

The Overall Spend

Total sponsorship budget:

  • 2025: €3.06 million
  • 2026: €3.55 million

Still slightly below 2024… but clearly rising again.

Why It’s Being Done

The reasoning is fairly standard:

  • Media exposure
  • Tourism promotion
  • Positioning Tenerife as a destination

All valid… on paper.

The Bit Worth Thinking About

Not every event sees the same increase…

Some stay flat for years.

So the real question becomes:

Who decides what gets the bigger slice… and why?

Worth Knowing

This isn’t unusual in tourism-driven places…

But when the numbers start moving this quickly, people tend to pay closer attention.

And that’s probably where this is heading.
