So after heading off into space last time round, Los Cristianos has decided to go in the opposite direction for 2027… straight down into the ocean.
And to be fair, it actually fits.
The theme is “The Depths of the Ocean”… think underwater cities, coral, sea creatures, submarines, the lot. Plenty of scope for people to get creative, which is half the fun with this carnival.
But there’s a bit more to it than just costumes and floats.
It’s also a nod to the town’s roots. Los Cristianos wasn’t built on tourism alone… it started as a fishing village, and that connection to the sea is still very much there if you look past the beach bars and ferry queues.
Nice touch as well with the tribute to Sergio Hanquet, the underwater photographer who did a lot to show off what’s actually beneath the surface around the islands.
So yup… 2027 is going underwater.
Expect plenty of fish, a few questionable mermaids, and at least one bloke dressed as a submarine after a couple of beers.
