You see it every year…
But it still pulls people in.
The Scene
On May 3rd, the Rambla turns into a full walk-through of floral crosses.
- Locals out early
- Phones constantly out
- Everyone quietly picking their favourite
And yes… there’s always a bit of competition.
The One Everyone Stopped For
This year, one stood out more than most:
The CD Tenerife cross.
Fresh off promotion…
Blue and white everywhere…
And a queue of people waiting to get a photo.
Not Just Decoration
Some crosses had a bit more behind them.
One of the most talked about:
- Made with medicinal plants
- Created by the College of Pharmacists
- A tribute to Wolfredo Wildpret
People actually stopped… read… and took it in.
Which doesn’t always happen.
The School Section
This is where it gets busy.
Families, kids, teachers…
All trying to spot what they made.
- Ladybirds, boats, small details everywhere
- Some even referencing the Pope’s upcoming visit
- Others leaning into local history
It’s a mix of effort and imagination… and it shows.
More Than Just a Walk
For a lot of people, it’s become routine:
- Walk the Rambla
- Pick a favourite cross
- Head through García Sanabria after
Simple… but it works.
Worth Knowing
It’s not just about flowers.
It’s a mix of:
- Tradition
- Local pride
- A bit of friendly rivalry
And a good excuse to get out the house.
Which, judging by the crowds…
Most people took.
