If you’ve been to the Mercado del Cristo recently…
You’ll probably notice it feels a bit easier to use.
That’s not by accident.
What’s Been Done
The council has been quietly improving a few key areas:
- Better access and wider walkways
- Safer paving… no more dodgy tiles
- Renovated public toilets (including accessible)
- Upgraded flower stall area
Nothing flashy… just practical fixes.
Making It More Comfortable
One of the bigger issues was heat inside the building.
So now they’ve added:
- Awnings
- Blinds
- Improved air conditioning
Which should make a difference heading into summer.
A Few Extras
There’s also been:
- New visitor tracking system (to manage busy times)
- Safety drills and updated protocols
- General tidy-up of working areas
All aimed at making things run a bit smoother.
Still the Same Market
What hasn’t changed is what people actually go for:
- Fresh fruit and veg
- Meat, fish, cheeses
- Local wines and produce
- Small food spots and stalls
Plus the Farmers’ Market on selected days.
Worth Knowing
It’s not a complete transformation…
…but these are the kind of upgrades you notice over time.
Less hassle… easier access… and a better overall feel.
