There’s no shortage of great walking routes in Tenerife, but it’s always better when you’ve got good company.
That’s exactly what participants enjoyed this weekend as Icod de los Vinos officially launched its new “Icod se Mueve” programme with a circular hike through Erjos and Monte del Agua.
The opening event brought together a large group of walkers for a day combining exercise, nature and plenty of conversation along one of the island’s most beautiful trails.
Exploring One of Tenerife’s Natural Gems
The inaugural route took participants through the peaceful landscapes of Monte del Agua, an area renowned for its ancient laurel forest, rich wildlife and scenic walking paths.
As well as enjoying the natural surroundings, the event encouraged people to stay active while discovering some of Tenerife’s lesser-known beauty spots.
More Walks Planned Throughout the Year
The launch is only the beginning, with several guided hikes already scheduled over the coming months.
The remaining programme includes:
- 23 August: Circular Cruz del Carmen
- 13 September: Ruta del Agua, La Guancha
- 25 October: Circular Chinyero
- 15 November: El Palmar, Los Silos
- 13 December: Circular Teno Alto
Each walk offers the chance to explore a different part of Tenerife while meeting fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
A Great Way to Discover the Island
Programmes like Icod se Mueve are a reminder that some of the island’s best experiences don’t involve beaches or resorts.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, these organised walks provide an easy way to discover spectacular scenery, keep active and enjoy Tenerife at a slower pace.
