Musician Eddi Circa brings her new album, Embestida por un signo, to TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes on Saturday 31 October, with a live performance starting at 7pm.
The concert forms part of Por Asalto, the museum’s programme dedicated to live art and experimentation. This edition, titled Las posiciones de la lengua, brings together different artistic disciplines and creates space for new ideas and collaborations.
Entry is free, although places are limited to the venue’s capacity.
Fourteen songs exploring signs, ideas and identity
Embestida por un signo is built around 14 songs that follow the adventures of Eddi Ogra Abigail, a character moving through a challenging, unsettled world of ideas and discoveries.
The work explores the signs we encounter throughout life and the effort involved in learning to recognise and interpret them. Its approach is restless rather than reassuring, combining futuristic guitar riffs with Circa’s powerful vocals.
It’s an ambitious mix of music, literature and philosophical thought, with little interest in keeping things comfortable or predictable.
From physics to music
Born in Madrid in 1996, Circa released her first album, En el bosque de un claro, in 2023 while completing her doctoral thesis in physics at the University of Alcalá.
The album explored the philosophical ideas of María Zambrano through delicate guitar work. Circa later published the lyrics and reflections from her songs, alongside those of her sister raxet1, in the songbook Cierva imperio perreo in 2024.
She has since become an artist in residence at the La Madraza Centre for Contemporary Culture in Granada, following a residency at Tabacalera. Her work draws on philosophical and literary traditions shaped by lesbian and other dissident voices.
The performance at TEA offers a chance to experience her latest work live, as part of a programme that encourages experimentation and new ways of bringing art and ideas together.
