Airline expands Tenerife-Montreal service from June 2027, giving travellers a direct connection between the Canary Islands and Canada throughout the year
Air Canada is expanding its Tenerife to Montreal service and will operate the route year-round from June 2027, giving travellers in the Canary Islands a direct connection to Canada outside the traditional seasonal schedule.
The announcement, made on 3 September, builds on Air Canada’s existing service between Tenerife and Montreal and further strengthens the airline’s presence in Spain.
The airline already operates flights between Tenerife and Toronto, while also connecting Palma de Mallorca and several mainland Spanish cities with Canada.
New Airbus A321XLR on the route
The Tenerife-Montreal service will be operated using Air Canada’s Airbus A321XLR, one of the airline’s newest aircraft.
The aircraft is designed for longer-distance routes such as Tenerife to Montreal while still offering the facilities passengers would expect on a long-haul service.
That includes Air Canada Signature Class, with lie-flat seats, as well as Economy Class.
For Tenerife, the year-round operation is particularly useful for travellers who want to visit Canada outside the summer season without having to connect through another European airport.
Connections across North and South America
The route also provides access to Air Canada’s wider network through its Montreal hub.
Passengers travelling from Tenerife will be able to connect onwards to destinations across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
José Blazquez, Air Canada’s Director of Sales for Spain and Portugal, said the expansion would give customers and Aeroplan members greater choice when travelling between Tenerife and Canada.
He also described Tenerife as an important destination within the airline’s network and said the year-round service would strengthen Air Canada’s presence in Spain.
The airline is also expanding its global network for summer 2027, with five new international destinations, six new routes and increased frequencies on a number of existing services.
Another option for travelling to the US
There is another benefit for passengers travelling onwards to the United States.
Air Canada points out that travellers connecting through Canada can make use of US Customs and Immigration pre-clearance facilities. This means passengers can complete US immigration procedures in Canada before boarding their onward flight.
On arrival in the United States, they can then arrive as domestic passengers rather than going through the usual immigration process again.
The Tenerife-Montreal service is already on sale and is scheduled to begin its year-round operation in June 2027.
Bookings are available through www.aircanada.com.
For Tenerife, another direct international route is always welcome. And having Montreal connected year-round opens up considerably more options for both residents and visitors looking to travel between the island and North America.
