La Laguna takes the Pasaporte Joven around the municipality with cinema, music, workshops and plenty to do

There’s quite a lot going on for young people around La Laguna this week, with the Pasaporte Joven 2026 programme moving into different neighbourhoods and towns across the municipality.

Las Chumberas, Punta del Hidalgo, Tejina, Las Mercedes, La Barranquera, Taco, Valle de Guerra and the Obispado area will all get their turn, with a mixture of cinema, workshops, sport, technology, music and activities aimed at getting people together.

It’s a fairly sensible idea, really. Rather than expecting everyone to head to the same central location, the programme is being taken to where people actually live.

Something happening close to home

Sergio Eiroa, La Laguna’s councillor for Education and Youth, says that is one of the main aims of the programme.

The idea is to bring activities to different parts of the municipality while giving young people the chance to discover places they might not normally visit.

This week alone includes everything from summer cinema and dance to sport, games, workshops and live music. So there should be something for most tastes.

On Thursday, 3 September, La Joveneta will be in Las Chumberas from 17:00 to 21:00, with workshops, games and sports activities.

There will also be a Summer Cinema screening of Zootrópolis 2.

Over in Punta del Hidalgo, Ready Player One will be shown from 21:00, while Tejina gets Noches de Fantasía from 22:00, featuring Víctor Hubara, Nacho Peña and La Maldita.

Friday moves to Las Mercedes

On Friday, 4 September, La Joveneta moves on to Las Mercedes.

The activities will run from 17:00 to 21:00, again with workshops, games and sporting activities.

Then things get rather busier on Saturday.

Valle de Guerra will host Territorio Joven from 18:00 until 02:00, giving people a fairly long window to get involved.

Meanwhile, La Barranquera will host the Barranquera Festival 2026 from 19:00.

The line-up includes Beto Uña, Castion, Jairo Delli, Dani Chueca, Kevin Ramos, O. Robles, Damaso León, David Navarro, Eny Lacombe and Francis Delgado B2B Jordi Rolo.

A bit of salsa in Taco

Saturday also sees the Plaza San Luis Gonzaga in Taco hosting the Ruta Salsera from 20:00 to midnight.

There will be salsa, bachata and merengue, along with social dancing, animations, dance tutorials, an XXL casino rueda, a giant conga and even some prize draws.

So, yes, probably best to leave the slippers at home for that one.

Sunday brings more activities

The programme continues on Sunday, 6 September, with La Joveneta in the Obispado area from 10:00 to 14:00.

There will be more workshops, games and sport.

Later that day, Plaza San Luis Gonzaga will host another Territorio Joven session from 12:00 to 16:00.

This one is aimed at all ages and includes table tennis, a football goal, badminton, basketball, giant parchís, Just Dance and music, among other activities.

The whole thing is part of a much bigger programme.

Pasaporte Joven 2026 includes more than 100 activities across 63 locations in La Laguna and continues until 3 October.

The aim is to spread youth activities across the municipality, from the historic centre and university area to the coast, northeast, higher areas and the various towns and neighbourhoods.

It’s a lot of ground to cover, but that’s rather the point. There’s no shortage of young people in La Laguna. Getting the activities out to them makes considerably more sense than making everyone come looking for them.
