Fifty affordable rental homes are planned for Tejina, with construction company Citanias Obras y Servicios awarded the contract for €8.87 million.
The project will be built on municipal land on Calle Auchón, in the Milán district of Tejina, and is being managed by Muvisa, the Municipal Society of Housing and Services of San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
Work is expected to begin within the next two years, although there are still a few formalities to get through before the contract can be signed.
Three companies competed for the contract. The award can now be challenged during a period of 15 working days, in line with current legislation. Once that period has passed, or any appeals have been resolved, the necessary steps can be taken to formalise the contract.
Affordable rental housing remains an important issue in Tenerife, so the planned development will be one to keep an eye on as it moves towards construction.
