La Laguna is getting ready for a night of zombies, monsters and all manner of creepy characters when the Isla Calavera Zombie Walk returns on Saturday 31 October.
The Halloween event will take over the historic centre, with comedian and actor Aarón Gómez acting as master of ceremonies. There’ll be free make-up, costume competitions, live music and plenty of opportunities to get into the spirit of things.
Organised as part of the Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, the event is open to all ages. And there’s no need to spend weeks creating an elaborate costume. You can arrive dressed up already or make use of the free make-up tents set up for the occasion.
Zombie Walk timetable and route
Things get going at 5pm in Plaza del Adelantado, where visitors can enjoy the activities before the main march. There’ll be free make-up tents, a food area and space to get ready before heading out into the streets.
The Zombie Walk itself starts at 8pm, travelling through the historic centre along Calle Obispo Rey Redondo to Plaza de la Concepción, before returning along Calle Herradores towards Plaza del Adelantado.
For a few hours, the old town will become something straight out of a horror film, with residents and visitors turning up as the undead and other characters from the world of fantasy cinema.
Aarón Gómez and the Tejina Music Band
Aarón Gómez will once again lead the evening as master of ceremonies, bringing his humour to a Halloween celebration inspired by fantastic cinema.
The programme will also feature the Tejina Music Band, alongside other musical groups. Once the march finishes, the stage in Plaza del Adelantado will host the costume and performance awards.
There are three categories up for grabs:
- Best Zombie, for the best make-up and character
- Best Walker, for the best performance
- Best Group, recognising the best collective effort
The evening will continue with a DJ set from DJ NAGOBA, mixing electronic sounds with film scores and music inspired by the fantasy and horror genres.
A taste of the Isla Calavera Film Festival
The Zombie Walk is one of the activities leading up to the tenth edition of the Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, which runs from 6 to 15 November 2026.
The festival programme includes film screenings, professional meetings, exhibitions, galas and other events at venues including Teatro Leal and Multicines Tenerife.
Announced guests include actors Christopher Lambert, Tom Berenger and Álex García, actresses Sean Young and Lone Fleming, and filmmakers Alejandro Amenábar and Lloyd Kaufman, among others.
The Zombie Walk brings a little of that cinematic atmosphere out of the screening rooms and onto the streets, giving La Laguna a suitably spooky start to Halloween night.
