Arona celebrates its Fiestas Mayores from 25 September to 7 October

The annual celebrations in honour of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud and Nuestra Señora del Rosario return with concerts, traditional events, religious ceremonies, family activities and plenty of late-night dancing

Arona will celebrate its Fiestas Mayores in honour of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud and Nuestra Señora del Rosario from Friday 25 September to Wednesday 7 October, with a packed programme spread across almost two weeks.

There is a bit of everything in this year’s programme, from religious ceremonies and traditional celebrations to concerts, children’s activities, comedy, live music and several nights of dancing.

📅 Date: Friday, 25 September to Wednesday, 7 October 2026

📍 Area: Arona town, South Tenerife

The festivities begin on Friday 25 September with the traditional ringing of the bells and fireworks at midday. That evening, the official opening continues with the reading of the festival proclamation and the presentation of the candidates for the festival queen, accompanied by José Manuel Ramos.

Music, exhibitions and a Latin night

The programme continues on Saturday 26 September with the opening of a collective exhibition of painting and sculpture by artists from Arona, alongside Arona a través del tiempo, a collection of historic videos documenting the Fiestas Mayores from 1996 to the present day.

That evening, the Noche Latina takes over Plaza del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, featuring Ruta Salsera, a tribute to Frankie Ruiz, Maquinaria Band and Edwin Rivera, with music continuing until 04:00.

On Sunday 27 September, singer Falete will bring his Por la vida tour to Arona in a special evening performance.

Plenty for families

Families also get their fair share of the programme.

Monday 28 September features an afternoon of children’s activities, including inflatables, workshops and surprises, followed by a princesses and superheroes show.

The following day brings the gala ¡Deseo volver a jugar!, including the election of the children’s festival queen and performances from local dance groups, Ballet Beanky Infantil, Especial Guerreras and Payaso Cañita.

The programme also includes a dedicated Día del Niño on Sunday 4 October, with water and land inflatables, a foam party and children’s mini disco.

From Studio 54 to traditional Arona

One of the more colourful evenings will be the Studio 54, la Noche Eterna gala on Thursday 1 October, when the festival queen will be chosen. The evening takes its inspiration from the famous New York nightclub and will feature a headline performance by Shaila Dúrcal.

Friday 2 October brings a Night of Comedy with Jorge Ávila and Kike Pérez, followed by a late-night dance with Wamampy and Sabrosa.

Then on Saturday 3 October, Arona turns its attention to local traditions with Arona en Tradiciones, running from 12:00 to 22:00.

The event will include traditional crafts and gastronomy, local food and wine tastings, traditional games and sports, parrandas, workshops, theatre and live music. Free transport will be available from different parts of the municipality.

The religious celebrations

The religious programme reaches its main moments on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October.

On Sunday, the celebrations in honour of Nuestra Señora del Rosario include Mass, followed by the procession through the streets of Arona accompanied by the Arona Music Band. The evening will finish with a large dance featuring Tropin and Malibú.

Monday 5 October is dedicated to the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, the Perpetual Mayor of Arona.

The day begins with a traditional Diana Floreada, followed by the solemn Mass and traditional besapié. In the evening, the Procesión Magna will take place, accompanied by the Arona Music Band and San Juan Bautista marching band, with musical offerings from several local performers and a fireworks display.

The night will finish with music from Los Ideales.

The celebrations continue into October

The final days include more family entertainment and sport.

On Tuesday 6 October, children can enjoy El concierto de Superabuela, with inflatables and a photocall, before the LVIII edition of the football match in honour of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud at the Fernando Pérez Municipal Football Ground.

The celebrations officially conclude on Wednesday 7 October with the VI Regional Women’s Tournament, featuring C.D. Furia Arona and an opponent yet to be confirmed.

As always with a programme this size, organisers note that dates, times and activities may be subject to change.
