Historic Rivals Meet on Stage at Teatro Leal with Two Thrones, Two Queens

History is full of famous rivalries, but few are as fascinating as the story of Elizabeth I of England and Mary, Queen of Scots.

Although the two queens never actually met, their lives became intertwined through politics, religion and power. Now, that imagined encounter comes to life in Two Thrones, Two Queens, arriving at Teatro Leal in La Laguna on 25 July.

A Drama Inspired by One of History’s Greatest Rivalries

Written by acclaimed playwright Pepe Cibrián, the production imagines the face-to-face meeting that history never gave us.

The play explores the ambitions, fears and personal struggles of two women whose rivalry helped shape the future of Britain and Europe.

Blending political intrigue with emotional conflict, the production examines the human side of two of history’s most powerful monarchs.

A Powerful Performance on Stage

The drama stars Nacho Guerreros and Nicolás Pérez Costa, whose performances bring intensity to this fictional confrontation.

The production promises a gripping evening of theatre, with sharp dialogue and dramatic tension running from beginning to end.
