La Laguna’s Popular Tapas Route Returns with Record 47 Venues Taking Part

La Laguna is set to become one of Tenerife’s top food destinations once again as the 18th Ruta de la Tapa La Laguna–San Benito Abad returns from 1st to 31st July, bringing together a record 47 restaurants, cafés and bars from across the municipality.

The annual event, which forms part of the San Benito Abad festivities, invites locals and visitors to discover the city’s diverse food scene while enjoying specially created tapas at an affordable price.

A month of tapas for €4

Throughout July, each participating venue will serve a signature tapa accompanied by a beer, wine or water for a fixed price of €4.

From traditional Canarian recipes to more contemporary and creative dishes, the route offers plenty of variety while encouraging visitors to explore not only La Laguna’s historic centre but also its surrounding neighbourhoods.

Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez said the continued success of the event reflects the strength of the municipality’s hospitality sector and provides another opportunity to support local businesses while enjoying local produce with family and friends.

Vote for your favourite

Visitors can also take part by voting for their favourite tapa through the La Laguna Zona Comercial mobile app.

The app includes a map of all participating venues, event information and details of the competition.

Everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a prize draw to win one of three €100 vouchers, redeemable at the restaurants awarded the Gold, Silver and Bronze Tapa prizes.

Building on record-breaking success

Last year’s edition proved more popular than ever, with more than 100,000 tapas sold during the first two weeks and over 208,000 tapas and drinks served by the end of the event.

Organisers hope this year’s record participation of 47 establishments will help set another attendance record.

The event is organised by the La Laguna Zona Comercial Business Association, with support from La Laguna Town Hall and the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA).
