Lavaderos Live Music is marking its 10th anniversary this summer with a special programme of live performances in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, bringing together jazz, singer-songwriters, pop-rock, boleros, French music and commemorative concerts throughout July and August.
Hosted at the Sala de Arte Los Lavaderos, behind the Hotel Mencey, the much-loved concert series has become one of the highlights of Santa Cruz’s summer cultural calendar. This year’s anniversary edition is organised by Santa Cruz City Council, through the Centro-Ifara District and the Autonomous Cultural Organisation, under the slogan “Ten years is nothing, but it makes every embrace more meaningful.”
All concerts are free to attend, subject to venue capacity.
Summer concert programme
The season opens on Thursday 2nd July at 8:30pm with Alisia Sanz & Banda, followed by weekly Thursday evening performances throughout the summer.
The programme includes:
- 9th July – French Night featuring Ana de la Preugne, Matías Boussel and Rapha Broken Strings
- 16th July – Ancor Miranda Trio performing jazz
- 23rd July – Picardíaz & Lord with Reverso, presenting an evening of popular cover versions
- 30th July – Blue Rondo, showcasing contemporary music
August begins with a special charity event.
On 1st August at 7:00pm, Boleros Contra el Fuego (Boleros Against the Fire) will raise funds through a charity ticket initiative, featuring performances by José Luis León, Cancioneros, Toscal Romántico, Ruimán Quartet, Fragilísticos and Guayakí 3.
The programme continues with:
- 6th August – Álex Bencomo Group (singer-songwriter)
- 13th August at 8:00pm – Cuerdas en Consonancia, a classical guitar duo formed by Fernando Hernández León and Esther González, followed by the Alberto Delgado Prieto Memorial Concert, which will feature a special reunion of the Coral Voces Blancas Revival, performing together again after 50 years.
- 20th August – M-Band with a pop-rock concert
Celebrating 100 concerts
The anniversary celebrations conclude with two special events.
On 27th August at 8:00pm, the 100th Lavaderos Live Music concert will be dedicated to Our Lady of Los Lavaderos, featuring Juani P. Zuppo with Solfatara Quartet, choreography by Emma Rodríguez Arvelo, along with guest musicians, singers and poet Francisco Viña.
The final celebration takes place on Saturday 29th August from 6:00pm, with the 101st commemorative concert, featuring rock bands Whiskería Lili, Mono Sapiens and Escaldón de Golfos, together with DJ sets from Chary Lou and Toni LaCalle.
Produced by Makaron and directed by musician and journalist Rubén Díaz, Lavaderos Live Music has now reached the milestone of 100 concerts, cementing its place as one of Santa Cruz’s most distinctive and popular summer music events.
