There are restaurants where the food is only part of the story. The setting, the views and the atmosphere all come together to create something far more memorable. In Puerto de la Cruz, OKA at the iconic Gran Hotel Taoro is one of those places.
From 18 June, the restaurant introduces a new weekend lunch service, giving diners the chance to enjoy its acclaimed Japanese-inspired cuisine during daylight hours, with panoramic views across the Atlantic, the Orotava Valley and Mount Teide.
Japanese Technique Meets Canarian Produce
Led by renowned chef Ricardo Sanz, one of Spain’s pioneers of Japanese cuisine and among the first to earn a Michelin star for the style, OKA combines Japanese techniques with Mediterranean influences and locally sourced Canarian ingredients.
The menu evolves with the seasons and daily market availability, featuring dishes such as nigiri, usuzukuri, tartares, grilled specialities and creations that highlight the island’s fresh fish and local produce.
Alongside Sanz, chef Emiliano Liska brings a contemporary approach focused on balance, precision and respect for ingredients, creating a dining experience that puts quality produce firmly at the centre of every dish.
A New Way to Experience OKA
While the restaurant has already established itself as one of the standout dining destinations in the north of Tenerife, the addition of Saturday and Sunday lunches offers a completely different perspective.
During the day, the restaurant’s terrace becomes one of its biggest attractions, allowing guests to enjoy long, relaxed lunches while taking in some of the finest views on the island.
The combination of Japanese cuisine, Atlantic scenery and the backdrop of Mount Teide creates an experience that feels uniquely Tenerife.
More Than Just a Restaurant
The experience doesn’t have to end when the meal is over. Guests can continue their afternoon at the Tagoror Lobby Bar & Lounge, enjoying signature cocktails, coffee or drinks in one of the most elegant spaces within the hotel.
Part of Tenerife’s Historic Luxury Hotel
OKA forms part of the wider culinary offering at the recently restored Gran Hotel Taoro, widely regarded as Spain’s first luxury hotel, originally opened in 1890.
Alongside restaurants such as LAVA and Amalur, led by Michelin-starred chef Erlantz Gorostiza, OKA plays a key role in the hotel’s growing reputation as one of Tenerife’s leading gastronomic destinations.
With the launch of its new weekend lunch service, visitors now have another reason to discover one of the island’s most impressive dining settings, where Japanese cuisine, Canarian ingredients and spectacular views come together in one unforgettable location.
