One of the most emblematic historic buildings in San Juan de la Rambla is set for a new chapter. The Casona Delgado Oramas, a landmark property dating back to the third quarter of the 18th century, will be transformed into the municipality’s first rural hotel following the award of a major restoration project valued at more than €2 million.
A Landmark Restoration Project
The rehabilitation works have been awarded to Víctor Rodríguez e Hijos SLU, a construction company based in La Matanza de Acentejo.
The project has a planned execution period of 24 months and aims to recover one of the most important heritage buildings in the town’s historic centre while adapting it for tourism use.
Located on Calle La Alhóndiga, the property covers approximately 594 square metres and retains many of its original architectural features.
Preserving Historic Character
The building is arranged around a traditional central courtyard and includes:
• Two entrance hallways (zaguanes)
• Open galleries
• Traditional tiled roofs
• Original wooden carpentry
• A large rear garden
The restoration will focus on preserving the property’s architectural, historical and cultural value while carefully adapting it to meet modern hospitality standards.
Plans for the Future Hotel
The project outlines the following layout:
• Basement: Storage and service areas
• Ground Floor: Reception, dining area, tourist information point and communal spaces
• Exterior Areas: Gardens, swimming pool and solarium
• First Floor: Double guest rooms with private bathrooms
• Upper Floor: Two special accommodation units with private terraces
The aim is to create a boutique rural hotel that respects the original character of the building while offering a unique accommodation experience for visitors.
Supporting Heritage and Sustainable Tourism
The project forms part of San Juan de la Rambla’s wider strategy to preserve its historic heritage while encouraging sustainable tourism development.
The restoration plans were updated following recommendations from the Historic Heritage Unit of the Cabildo de Tenerife, ensuring that all protected elements of the property are carefully conserved throughout the works.
Once completed, the Casona Delgado Oramas will not only recover an important piece of the municipality’s history but will also become a new attraction for visitors looking to experience the cultural and architectural heritage of northern Tenerife.
