Free Tree Walks Return to Santa Cruz… A Different Way to See the City

Santa Cruz is bringing back something a bit different this year… free guided walks focused on the city’s most unique trees.

They’ll be running from April through to December 2026, led by environmental educators who actually know what they’re talking about, rather than just pointing at things and reeling off the usual touristy bits.

Not Just Another Walk Around the City

The idea is simple.

Take people through parks and parts of the city and highlight trees that stand out… whether that’s down to their age, size, origin, or just something a bit unusual about them.

It’s one of those things you probably walk past every day without noticing.

Where and When

The walks are scheduled for the last Saturday of each month, running from 10:00 to 12:00, and they’ll move between different areas:

  • García Sanabria Park
  • La Granja Park
  • Santa Cruz city centre

There are also a couple of extra dates for the May celebrations:

  • 1st May – García Sanabria
  • 3rd May – García Sanabria

And then the main schedule:

  • 25 April – García Sanabria
  • 23 May – City centre
  • 27 June – La Granja
  • 25 July – García Sanabria
  • 29 August – City centre
  • 26 September – La Granja
  • 24 October – García Sanabria
  • 28 November – City centre
  • 19 December – La Granja

Worth Doing?

If you live here, it’s an easy way to see the city a bit differently.

And if you don’t… it’s a decent excuse to get out for a couple of hours without spending anything.

Nothing complicated, just a slower look at parts of Santa Cruz most people ignore.
