One Last Excuse to Eat Well Before Easter Packs Up

Holy Week is almost over. The processions have wound through the streets, the drums have gone quiet, and most people are somewhere between feeling very virtuous about keeping the tradition and quietly admitting they used Semana Santa as a slightly elaborate excuse to eat a lot of fish. No judgement either way.

What there is, though, is one last reason to sit down at a proper table before the week is officially done. [Restaurant Name] is closing out Easter with a special menu running Friday through Sunday — and it’s the kind of thing worth booking before someone else does.

The Menu

This is real Canarian Easter food. None of the shortcuts.

Garbanzas con bacalao at €10. Chickpeas with salt cod — a Semana Santa staple on the islands, the kind of dish that tastes of tradition more than anything else on the table. If you haven’t had it during Holy Week before, this is the time to try it. The combination sounds simple. It isn’t.

Chocos en salsa at €11.50. Cuttlefish slow-cooked in sauce. Done well, it’s one of those things that’s genuinely hard to improve on — and if a restaurant puts it on the menu, it usually means they know what they’re doing with it.

Fogonero encebollado for €9.50 — pollock with caramelised onions, a Canarian classic that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. If you’ve only had it badly done somewhere along the way, this is worth another go.

And rounding things off, bichillo con papas at €13.50: pork tenderloin with roasted vegetables. Not strictly traditional Easter fare, but nobody’s pushing back on it.

As they put it themselves, it’s a menu designed to close the week on a high. Or at least with the trouser button a little looser. That sounds about right.

How the Seatings Work

They’re running two seatings, and they’re clear that this isn’t a rush-through-your-food kind of lunch. The whole point is to enjoy it.

First seating: arrive at 13:00 or 13:30, with your table held until 15:00. Second seating from 15:00 or 15:30 onwards.

It’s a sensible setup. Everyone gets their moment at the table, nobody is being nudged out the door, and when the pace is right the food genuinely does taste better. Sounds obvious. It’s worth appreciating when somewhere actually commits to it.

Semana Santa only comes around once a year. The menu goes with it. If you’ve been meaning to sit down for a proper Easter lunch and haven’t quite got there yet, this is the last chance before the tunics go back in the wardrobe until next April.
