If you’re into gaming, anime, K-Pop, cosplay or anything tech-related, there’s a good chance TLP Tenerife is already on your radar.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the event has officially opened the doors to its popular Summer-Con, with thousands of visitors heading to the Recinto Ferial de Tenerife in Santa Cruz for what has become the largest technology and digital entertainment event in the Canary Islands.
A packed opening day
From early in the morning, queues formed outside the venue as visitors arrived, many dressed as characters from their favourite video games, films, comics and anime series.
One of the biggest attractions on the opening day was a live performance by South Korean band W24, who entertained fans with a mix of original songs and even a Spanish version of Color Esperanza.
After the concert, the group stayed to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs.
More than just gaming
Although video games remain a huge part of TLP Tenerife, the event has grown into much more than that over the last two decades.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy:
- Gaming and esports tournaments.
- K-Pop competitions.
- Cosplay contests.
- Board games.
- Robotics and programming workshops.
- Independent game developer showcases.
- Meet-and-greets with content creators, voice actors and industry professionals.
New for this year is a free open-air cinema, screening the animated films Flow and Robot Dreams.
A place for innovation
Away from the entertainment, TLP also continues to play an important role in bringing together businesses and professionals from the technology sector.
The Tenerife Science and Technology Park hosted networking sessions involving regional, national and European companies working in technology and the creative industries, highlighting another side of the event that often goes unnoticed.
Celebrating 20 years
What started as a gathering for technology enthusiasts has grown into one of Tenerife’s biggest annual events, attracting visitors of all ages and helping to showcase the island as a centre for digital culture and innovation.
Whether you’re a serious gamer, a cosplay fan or simply curious to see what it’s all about, TLP Tenerife continues to prove there’s far more to the island than beaches and sunshine.
