The special service will operate from 09:30 to 23:00 on Sunday, 16 August, with alternative stops in the town centre
Titsa will add 23,000 extra places to its services this Sunday, 16 August, to help people get to the San Roque pilgrimage in Garachico, one of the biggest events of the year in the northwest of Tenerife and an event of National Tourist Interest.
The special transport operation will run from 09:30 to 23:00, with the public bus network expected to play a key role in managing the large number of people travelling to the town.
📅 Date: Sunday, 16 August 2026
📍 Area: Garachico, North Tenerife
🕔 Time: 09:30 to 23:00
Extra buses on Line 363
The main route for the operation will be Line 363, which connects Puerto de la Cruz, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico, Los Silos and Buenavista del Norte.
The last departures from Garachico will be at 23:00, travelling in both directions towards Puerto de la Cruz and Buenavista del Norte.
The additional capacity comes as significant traffic congestion is expected around Garachico. Last year, more than 13,100 people travelled by bus to attend the pilgrimage.
Alternative bus stops in Garachico
The usual stops in the town centre will not operate during the event.
Instead, Titsa services passing through the area will use a special stop at the parking area next to the football ground, allowing buses to continue operating while the celebrations take place.
There could also be temporary traffic restrictions on the TF-42 between kilometres 0 and 7.8 if congestion becomes particularly heavy.
Public transport and goods vehicles will have priority if these restrictions are introduced.
Titsa encourages visitors to leave the car at home
The Cabildo’s Mobility department is encouraging residents and visitors to use public transport rather than driving to Garachico.
Mobility councillor Eulalia García said the increased capacity is intended to make it easier and safer for people to attend while reducing pressure from private vehicles on what is expected to be a very busy day.
For updated timetables and routes, passengers can check www.titsa.com, call 922 53 13 00, or follow Titsa’s official social media channels.
With thousands of people heading to Garachico for San Roque, the bus is probably going to be a considerably less stressful option than trying to find somewhere to park.
