If you’re spending the day around Los Gigantes and fancy a few different dishes rather than committing to one enormous plate of something, Tas-K is worth knowing about.
It’s tucked away on Calle Los Guíos, just along the way to Playa de Los Guíos, and the idea is pretty simple. Fresh ingredients, plenty of dishes cooked in the oven, and a large part of the menu available in tapa size.
Which, frankly, makes life much easier when you want to try a bit of everything.
A menu made for sharing
Food creator @elsiciliano_tenerife recently visited Tas-K and highlighted the fact that much of the menu can be ordered as tapas.
On his visit, he tried pluma ibérica, Galician-style octopus, black pepper fillet, garlic prawns, rabbit and meatballs, with the latter described as “absolutely delicious”.
There are vegetarian options too, so it isn’t all about meat and seafood.
His verdict after trying the different dishes was pretty straightforward: “All the dishes exceeded my expectations.”
That’s usually a good sign.
The oven does most of the work
One of the things that sets Tas-K apart is its approach to cooking.
The restaurant says its dishes are prepared in the oven using fresh produce, rather than relying on a deep fryer. The wine selection is another part of the offering.
The fresh ingredients seem to be particularly important. The tuna tartare was singled out as a dish where the quality of the product really comes through.
The menu also changes periodically, with new dishes appearing alongside the regular favourites.
And if you fancy taking something down to the beach, there are takeaway options too, including a poke menu from €13.
Where to find Tas-K
Tas-K is at Calle Los Guíos, 16, Los Gigantes, Santiago del Teide.
It currently has a 4.8-star rating on Google, which suggests plenty of people have already discovered the place.
Opening hours are:
- Wednesday: 17:00 to 23:00
- Thursday to Sunday: 15:00 to 23:00
- Monday and Tuesday: Closed
So, if you’re heading down to Playa de Los Guíos, it could be a handy place to stop afterwards for a few tapas and a glass of wine.
Much better than trying to decide which single dish you’re going to regret ordering when everyone else’s food starts arriving.
