The Tenerife kebab that’s winning people over with fresh dough and meat cut daily

Let’s be honest, kebab isn’t usually the first thing that springs to mind when you think about artisan food.

For most people, it’s something you grab late at night, usually when your decision-making abilities have already left the building.

But Kebab El Sabroso is trying to do things a little differently.

With several locations around Tenerife, the business has built a following by focusing on fresh ingredients, homemade dough and meat that is cut by hand each day.

Food content creator @manufoodhunter recently visited one of their restaurants and was clearly impressed, describing it as one of the best kebabs he has ever eaten.

Fresh dough and meat prepared daily

One of the things that seems to set Kebab El Sabroso apart is the preparation.

The dough used for its kebabs and other dishes is made fresh every day, while the kebab meat is hand-carved rather than simply appearing from somewhere mysterious at the back of the kitchen. Always a good start.

Manu also tried the kebab pizza, which combines the restaurant’s kebab meat with its homemade dough. According to him, the dough was the standout.

The chips are also freshly prepared and cut daily. His recommendation? Add bacon and cheddar. Probably not one for anyone currently pretending to be on a diet.

The kebabs are still the main attraction

The Durum Sabroso was one of the dishes he tried, packed with meat and sauce.

He also sampled the Sabroso kebab served in pita bread, again highlighting the quality of the freshly made bread.

In fact, he reckons the bread alone is worth the visit.

There are also a few more unusual options on the menu, including burgers served in kebab bread. And if you like your food with a bit of a kick, there are several sauces to choose from, including a banana-based spicy sauce.

You can apparently go back for more sauce as many times as you like.

Dangerous information to know.

Where to find Kebab El Sabroso

Kebab El Sabroso currently has locations in:

  • Puerto de la Cruz
  • La Caleta
  • La Camella
  • Playa Paraíso

A new location in Candelaria is also due to open soon.

Kebab might still be fast food, but that doesn’t mean it has to be rubbish.

And if the meat is prepared fresh, the dough is made daily and the chips haven’t been sitting in a freezer since the last ice age, you’re already doing better than most.
