A restaurant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is offering families a bit of help with the back-to-school bills this September.
From Monday to Thursday throughout the month, one child aged up to 12 can eat for free for every adult who orders the €12.50 daily menu.
The offer has been highlighted by Joana and Jonay from the popular @guachinchesmodernos account, who visited the restaurant and showed their followers how the promotion works.
Their message was pretty straightforward: “You order the menu and your child eats for free.”
€12.50 gets you a full adult menu
The adult daily menu costs €12.50 and includes a starter, main course, drink and coffee.
The dishes change each day, and during their visit Joana and Jonay tried dishes including yellow rice and tuna.
Jonay seemed particularly impressed with the rice, describing it rather enthusiastically as being “de locos”.
The children’s menu includes chicken fingers with chips, a drink and a scoop of ice cream.
There is one fairly important condition to remember. The deal is one adult, one child. So one adult ordering the menu doesn’t mean you can turn up with three hungry children and expect everyone to eat for free. Nice try though.
A bit of help during an expensive month
The promotion is aimed at families during September, which can be a particularly expensive month with school uniforms, books, supplies and all the other things that somehow manage to appear on the bill at once.
A member of staff summed up the thinking behind the offer simply:
“Hay que ayudarnos entre todos.”
We could all do with a bit more of that.

The promotion runs Monday to Thursday throughout September.
The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm, with the kitchen serving until 4:00pm.
