Ópera en minúscula returns to Tenerife with four chamber opera productions from September

The third edition of the cycle brings contemporary opera to Espacio La Granja, Teatro Leal La Laguna and Auditorio de Tenerife

Opera is taking a smaller, more intimate route around Tenerife this autumn with the return of Ópera en minúscula, a chamber opera series designed to bring lyric theatre into smaller spaces and reach new audiences.

The third edition of the programme features four productions between September and October, with works by composers from Mexico, Serbia, Hungary and Spain.

📅 Date: 12 September to 3 October 2026
📍 Area: Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna
🎟️ Tickets: Available online

Four productions across Tenerife

The programme opens on 12 September at Espacio La Granja with Luciérnaga, by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz.

A week later, on 19 September, the same venue will host Svadba (La boda) by Ana Sokolović.

The cycle then moves north to Teatro Leal La Laguna, where The Golden Dragon, by Hungarian composer Péter Eötvös, will be performed on 25 and 26 September.

The programme concludes on 3 October at Auditorio de Tenerife with La clausura del amor, by Spanish composer Reyes Oteo.

A more intimate way to experience opera

Ópera en minúscula is built around chamber opera and smaller-scale productions, taking performances away from the traditional large opera-house format.

The idea is to rediscover the genre in a more intimate setting while bringing contemporary lyric theatre to different venues and audiences across Tenerife.

Tickets and discount

Tickets for the four productions are already available through the official booking platform.

There is also a 25% discount for anyone buying tickets for both productions taking place at Espacio La Granja, Luciérnaga and Svadba (La boda).

That means there is a decent excuse to give chamber opera a second chance if one evening isn’t enough.
